Who are We?

Butler Procter was born in 2021 out of Alfred Mossop & Co a well-established (since 1968) firm known for independent professional property advice services throughout the Lake District, Furness & North Lancashire.

When Alastair and Tim, who had followed a very similar local career path, albeit at a slightly different timing, decided to set up a new independent property consultancy practice – Butler Procter was therefore born.

Tim Butler – FRICS – started work with Alfred Mossop & Co in Ambleside in 1969, subsequently qualified fully in 1977 and worked in UK, Australia and Canada in residential and commercial property Companies and returned to UK and took over Alfred Mossop & Co as Managing Partner in 1998. He has a passion for old building repair and maintenance by way of traditional vernacular building methods, and his Dog Daisy!

Alastair Procter – BSc MRICS – started work with Lowden Noall in Low Furness in the early 1980’s before working nationally on a commercial and development based role before then settling in Lancashire to undertake multi-functional roles encompassing commercial, residential and management activities. The formation of Butler Procter essentially bringing him home to his native county. He has a passion for his family and sport and his two dogs, Walter and Wilfred!

So between the two Partners there is some 90+ years of accumulated experience in Residential and Commercial Property valuation, survey, management etc experience to call upon.

What Do We Do?

We assist Clients on a one to one independent basis with all their property requirements to ensure they have the ability to achieve what they need, be it a property purchase, or lease, and ensure they have all the available information and advice to proceed confidently, with their transaction.

We are both committed to giving the best professional independent advice for our Client’s needs, and would like to think of them as a friend, who will go on to recommend us to their wider circle after we have worked for them.

Being a member of the In-Group is a great asset to our practice, as we always say that if we don’t know the answer to a Clients query we will be able to put them in touch with someone who does and is trusted by us.
