How did the business start?
The late Les Beavis set up the business initially in his front room with a desk, filing cabinet and a vision to offer the best in financial planning services in order to give his clients peace of mind.
He was motivated by using his technical knowledge to help people look after their money. After several years working at Yorkshire General, taken-over by Aviva many years ago, and the Kendal firm, Provincial Insurance, he saw a business opportunity to help local self-employed people.

Who are your clients?
Our 2500 clients range from directors of FTSE-listed international businesses to local people who need some help organising their finances.
What do you do with the £250m you have under financial management?
We try to align people’s finances with their ambitions and goals. We use various options to do this – investments, pension, insurance and trusts to name a few.
Would Les Beavis recognise the company today?
Times have certainly changed and we have been at the forefront of those changes. We are always looking to implement initiatives and be the best we can be.
Just like any other industry, financial services are being transformed by technology. FMB is embracing this both for clients and behind the scenes.
