Back with a Buzz: Local Voices, New Energy, and a Global Podcast

This week marked our first meeting back after the Christmas and New Year break, and there was a real sense of energy in the room as members reconnected and got back into the rhythm of sharing and supporting local business. We kicked off 2026 with six referrals exchanged and over £6,000 in business generated from past referrals – a strong start to the year.

Our 10-minute presentation was given by Sukanya, a long-standing IT consultant based in Cumbria and the creator of a growing local podcast. Her self-titled podcast is centred around three themes: conversation, connection, and community. Each episode features a walk with a guest on one of their favourite local routes, during which they talk about their business journey, personal story, and chosen music.

Now in its third season, the podcast has 37 episodes available and is being listened to in 48 countries. It’s also received national recognition, having been shortlisted at the Independent Podcast Awards. Sukanya spoke about her mission to shine a light on the entrepreneurial stories unfolding across Cumbria and encouraged members to connect, subscribe, and consider getting involved – whether as a guest, sponsor, or supporter of her unique platform.
