The right branding, logos and business stationery communicate the heart and soul of a business – and can lead to remarkable things.

How long has the business been running?
I set the business up in 2016, after many years of experience working in traditional brand development and graphic design. I operate a one-stop-shop, where our clients can get all the services provided by big design agencies.

What’s your role?
I do a bit of everything; as well as being owner, designer and developer, I deal with sales, marketing and accounts, with tea boy duties thrown in!

What sort of services do you provide?
Websites need more than clever design. I believe in a simple end-to-end approach, marrying design and the build process with ongoing promotion and digital marketing.

Improving website traffic using SEO, or search engine optimisation, is crucial for everyone wanting to boost their business or services.

I particularly like to explore the promotional scope and the opportunities that brings.

Why is your business special and what are its unique selling points?
My clients know their site will not only look good, but will display quickly and play nicely with Google. There is no point in having a website that does not receive visitors who will buy your product or book your service – and that is what makes me unique.

How many staff?
Me myself and I, as De La Soul said – some extra help when I need it.

Client numbers?
Over 80 in total but usually around 10 clients having projects being worked on at any given time.

What sort of clients do you want to appeal to and do you have any notable clients?
I find medium-sized professional clients, such as city lawyers and accountants are great to work with. They want a high-quality service, delivered in a professional way and don’t watch every penny, allowing me to produce the best possible result for them.

Blacks Solicitors in Leeds employ around 90 staff and Sagars Accountants, also in Leeds, have a workforce of around 70 – both are valued clients.

Local companies, such as Adventure Peaks in Ambleside who have 20 staff, are a world-leading adventure travel company, helping climbers to reach the summit of Mt Everest. I help with their eCommerce, which sells trips and specialist clothing across the globe.

What are the jobs/commissions you have been most proud of and why?
The new website for Blacks Solicitors is my largest project to date, which will include a full SEO suite of work. I was pitching against large design agencies in Leeds, but the client felt I would be best placed to give them the desired results and increase in traffic, as well as understanding their brand and company ethos.

What sort of things do clients say about you?

The new website is working like a dream. Lots of people using the ‘Contact us’ link which are following straight on to bookings. Owners are also very pleased with the new site, and I’m no longer embarrassed to send people to look at it.

Working with Neil from Burnett Design was an absolute pleasure from start to finish and we are delighted with the end product that we have received; inspirational branding, clear branding guidelines, and a user friendly website. Neil listened to our brief and produced milestones with clear timescales so everyone understood what we were working towards.
