Members’ spotlight – Chris Granger

At today’s meeting, Chris Granger from Crosby Granger Architects switched things up from showcasing their usual amazing local and national projects. Instead, he dived into his personal interest in how architecture meets geometry and ancient measurements. Chris had all of the details, especially the role of the Fibonacci scale in design and why getting numbers spot-on is crucial in big building projects.

He also tackled some myths about how measurements came to be, pointing out that it’s not all about feet and yards but more about metrology – that’s measuring the Earth in layman’s terms. Chris was particularly fascinated by how the ancient Egyptians were ahead of their time, especially with the Great Pyramid of Giza, which he reckons is the most impressive building out there.

The pyramid chat really got us thinking – how did the Egyptians manage such precise construction with the tech they had? Chris left us with that brain-teaser.

It wasn’t just about intriguing architecture talk, though. Our group was buzzing with activity. With 19 of us there and 10 referrals flying around, we clocked in over £10k in business from previous referrals. So, not only did we get our minds stretched, but our local business network got a nice boost too!
