Capturing Kendal in Black & White – A Visual Journey with Steve Barber

We were treated to a truly memorable presentation this week from Steve Barber, whose passion for black and white photography shone through in every image and story he shared. Steve took us on a journey through his archive, showcasing powerful and atmospheric photographs that captured local characters, well-known faces, and historic moments from the region.

His presentation wasn’t just a slideshow—it was a visual storytelling session filled with humour, nostalgia, and insight into a craft honed over decades. From photographing royalty and musicians to dramatic local events and quiet candid moments, Steve’s eye for composition and his love of people were clear to everyone in the room.

Members especially enjoyed seeing his vintage cameras up close and hearing how the tools of the trade have changed over the years. Steve’s relaxed style and fascinating anecdotes had the group completely engaged, and his technical skill and creative flair left a strong impression.

We also had a strong week for group activity, with 20 members attending, 11 referrals shared, and over £11,000 in business generated for our members. A big thank you to Steve for an inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable presentation.
